Isaiah 55:10-11:

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God's words do not return to him without accomplishing what they were sent for. But notice that he said that his words return to him. How can this be? Once he speaks something, how is it that his words can come back to him? Do they have little boomerangs on them?

It's simple. His words return to him when you speak them out of your mouth.

When you speak God's Word, you are causing that word to perform what it was sent to do. God needs your agreement. When you agree with God concerning any matter and say so, you release his power on the earth. The power is already everywhere; God is omnipresent. But that power is not released until God's Word comes out of your mouth. We see this principle in Romans 10:9-10, where confession is made unto salvation. Salvation is not yours until you confess (say) that it is. We would not accept a testimony that someone got saved if no one heard the person declare Jesus Christ to be his Lord. Likewise, healing does not manifest until you are willing to say it out of your mouth. To say that you believe it in your heart, but you would just be uncomfortable saying it, is a lie. Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. If you won't say it, you don't really believe it. That might sound hard, but it is definitely the truth.

It is not difficult to tell what people really believe. Just listen to them talk for a few minutes and you'll figure it out. If they say anything other than "I have received my healing; it is mine now," you know that they are not in faith, even if they mentally agree with the doctrine of divine healing and can quote all the Scriptures on it. There is a difference between assenting to a doctrine and actually receiving something. If you really believe something, you will say it. You will have the spirit of faith that says, "I believed, therefore have I spoken" (2 Cor 4:13).

But when you do believe God's Word and you speak it out of your mouth, you are releasing power into the earth. You are returning God's Word to him, and it does not return to him without accomplishing the thing he sent it for.

God sent his Word and saved you from your sins. God sent his Word and healed you. But only when you say it do you receive it. Otherwise, the power that was there for you all along goes to waste. It is not up to God to return his Word to him. It is up to you.

I am not talking about a "fake it till you make it" mentality, where you pretend to believe something until you really do. There is a confession unto faith and a confession of faith. A confession unto faith repeats God's Word to yourself so that you get used to hearing yourself agree with the Word. This develops your faith. A confession of faith releases the power of God in the situation now and receives the answer now.

Note one more thing about rain and snow. The crop doesn't grow overnight, does it? It is the same with the Word of God. You need to consistently return it to God. Just as a farmer would go broke if he only watered his crops the day he planted them, you will go broke spiritually if you just say God's Word once and then stop saying it. I am not telling you to receive by faith multiple times; you only do that once. I am saying that you must continually speak God's Word if you want to walk in faith.

There are many testimonies of people who have given up after a few days or weeks and never gotten anything. There are also many testimonies of people who continued to speak only the Word of God about a situation and received a miracle. It is sometimes a process of months or even years of standing on the Word of God and speaking it, but God's Word will accomplish what it was sent to do. We all love stories about people in wheelchairs suddenly getting up and mentally impaired people instantly being made normal. However, I have heard more testimonies of gradual healings as the Word of God was consistently spoken than I have heard of dramatic, instantaneous healings.

The fact that a healing is gradual does not mean that it is unmiraculous. Many have been totally healed of hopeless problems over a period of months or years. It was still a total healing. Don't shortchange yourself and give up just because you don't see any results right away. Many of those who have these healing testimonies saw no improvement for a long time, yet continued to return God's Word to him. And just as he promised, his Word did not return to him without accomplishing that which it was sent to do.
